Although Jean Paul Gaultier may be the wild child of fashion, he is a product of classical training. Apprenticing with Jean Patou and Pierre Cardin at 18, Gaultier honed his craft and showed his first collection in October 1976. A year later he launched his label. Known to design the provocative and outlandish creations, Gaultier thrives on taking something that already exists and changing to make it new.
