Born in the Canary Islands and on a visit to New York by way of Paris, Manolo Blahnik started his career as a set designer. After meeting with then American Vogue editor-in-chief, Diana Vreeland encouraged him to concentrate on shoe making and in 1973 he opened his first boutique. Blahniks shoes are the epitome of precision, balance, workmanship and luxury. Their clean lines are impeccably shaped and still crafted by hand making their silhouettes unique and instantly recognizable.
